A New Heritage: The Modern Country Manor.
True architecture doesn’t just sit on the land; it belongs to it. This project represents a meticulous study
in Palladian and Georgian classicism, reimagined for the 21st century. By utilizing traditional massing,
disciplined proportioning, and exquisite local craftsmanship, we have created a home that feels as though
it has anchored here for centuries, while discreetly possessing the ultimate in modern luxury.
The Architecture of arrival: the approach to the principal elevation instils a sense of quiet authority and
timelessness.
Classical Proportions: The façade is defined by strict symmetry and a rigorous fenestration pattern,
featuring traditional six-over-six timber sash windows.
Masterful Masonry: Crafted from hand-dressed, locally sourced Ashlar, the building’s edges are
anchored by subtle rusticated quoins.
Elegant Detailing: The eye is drawn upward from the pedimented portico supported by Doric columns to a
traditional lead-hipped slate roof, complete with symmetrical chimneys, classically proportioned dormers,
and a refined stone balustrade.
Framing the Forecourt: Flanking stone screen walls extend seamlessly from the main block, framing
the gravel drive and giving the residence a commanding, estate-like presence while screening the private
gardens beyond.
A Masterclass in Topography and Transition: While the arrival side presents a formal historical face, the
rear elevation reveals the project’s contemporary genius. We utilized the natural slope of the landscape to
introduce a substantial subterranean level without compromising the classical proportions of the main
house above.
The Modern Podium: The traditional structure rests upon a meticulously integrated stone podium. This
lower level houses a contemporary wellness and living suite, featuring expansive, dark-framed glazing that
floods the interior with morning light.
Sweeping Staircases: Twin returning stone staircases gracefully connect the formal raised ground
floor to the modern pool terrace below, bridging the gap between classical grandeur and relaxed,
contemporary outdoor living.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living: These modern doors open entirely to a sunken, stone-paved terrace
and an integrated linear pool, creating a private, sheltered sanctuary.
This country home proves that one never has to choose between historical elegance and modern living.
It is a legacy property, built for today, designed for forever.
