With a career spanning over 30 years at the forefront of bespoke
residential design, John is the Managing Director of Dyer Grimes Architects.
He is a figurehead within the community and has worked with
some of London’s best known Architecture studios prior to
setting up his own practice in 1996.
His extensive portfolio of over 300 projects spans some of the
capital’s most prestigious postcodes from the historic streetscapes
of Chelsea, Fulham and Kensington to the leafy, spacious enclaves
of Richmond and Wimbledon. John possesses unparalleled
expertise and strategy in family needs and home ownership,
navigating the complex landscape of London's planning
permissions, listed building consents and strict conservation
area guidelines, ensuring that every ambitious project is executed with precision and grace.

St. Martins and ten years in the fashion industry. Before
joining DGA, she founded the successful fashion accessory
company JS Carrier collaborating with the likes of Alexander
McQueen and Clements Ribeiro.

DIRECTOR, PHILIP JONES-LLOYD.
Philip Jones-Lloyd has worked as a director at DGA for over a decade, formally joining the practice in 2016 after many years as a trusted consultant. Throughout his time with DGA, Philip has been exclusively focused on high-end private residential architecture and has successfully delivered more than 30 projects, many of them complex, heritage-led schemes.
As Head of DGA’s Country Houses division, Philip brings extensive experience in the design and delivery of refined rural residences. He has a deep affinity for the English countryside, its architecture, culture, and traditions, which strongly informs his design approach and sensitivity to context. His expertise spans project strategy, architectural design, technical compliance, and contract administration, enabling him to lead projects seamlessly from concept through to completion.
Philip is a natural leader and an accomplished people-person, adept at coordinating the many disciplines and stakeholders involved in complex building projects. His extensive on-site experience and practical problem-solving skills enable him to guide major projects to successful outcomes with clarity and assurance.
Outside of work, Philip lives with his family and two energetic dogs in a Listed cottage set within the beautiful landscape of the South Downs National Park, an environment that perfectly reflects his affinity for historic architecture and rural life.
CREATIVE DIRECTOR, HARRISON GROOT.

Harrison joined DGA in 2022. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in super-prime residential projects, leading teams and managing projects between £1-25M construction value in London and the surrounding home counties. With over 14 years’ professional experience he has worked across a diverse range of sectors on projects of differing scales in the UK and overseas, as an member of design teams at Gensler, Squire & Partners, Stiff & Trevillion, Oliver Morgan Architects and BLDA. He also enjoys the benefit of having worked contractor side as a Design Manager & Architect for ultra prime residential construction specialists Beau Bespoke which has further equipped him with a practical-yet-designed skill set.
He possesses that ‘can do’ attitude and is recognised for his calming and facilitating presence on projects and his positive approach to problem solving in ‘getting the job done’.
His motivations and passions in Architecture are for intricately detailed and refined spaces, appropriate to place, time and culture. He has an extensive knowledge of traditional architectural and building styles and a crafted approach to design; and this continuous engagement with craft is something he aspires for as a practicing Architect.
Outside of Architecture you can find Harrison at Goodwood Motor Circuit, enjoying a fire in a country pub or hiking somewhere in the wildernesses of the Americas.
DIRECTOR, MATTHEW PARRATT. MA(RCA)
With over 25 years’ industry experience, Matthew joined Dyer Grimes Architecture from the property development sector where he specialised in high-end residential projects. His expertise lies in prime residential basement developments, maximising usable floor area through complex double and triple basement schemes that demand a strong structural and engineering understanding.
Matthew’s developer-led mindset continues to shape his approach at DGA, balancing budgetary constraints with high-quality design to deliver cost-effective elegant solutions for clients. He has extensive experience in basement design, waterproofing systems and swimming pools, and works closely with builders and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered smoothly and efficiently.
In addition to traditional residential work, Matthew has led the design and delivery of multiple large-scale houseboat projects in London, collaborating with international boatyards on newly constructed vessels. These projects have resulted in some of the most distinctive and iconic houseboats on the River Thames.
Matthew holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Royal College of Art.
When not in the office or on site he can be usually found walking his red fox Labrador on some hillside reminiscing about the hills of Yorkshire where he grew up.
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, JOHN ROOKYARD.
With over 50 years of experience in the construction industry, John Rookyard is the technical backbone of Dyer Grimes Architects. As Technical Director his trusted expertise ensures that every project, whether new build, heritage or complex refurbishment moves seamlessly from design to delivery.
John’s career spans decades of hands-on construction and design management giving him a rare depth of knowledge across all stages of the building process. He has overseen everything from bespoke private residences to large commercial developments, always with the same commitment; to deliver projects that exceed client expectations. His expertise lie in bridging the gap between creative vision and practical execution ensuring that design ambitions are realised with precision, efficiency and enduring quality.
Clients value John’s clear communication and collaborative approach. He acts as the vital link between homeowners, consultants, contractors and authorities, providing reassurance and clarity at every stage. Known for his problem-solving skills he thrives on resolving challenges with practical, cost-effective solutions, often thinking outside the box to achieve the best outcome.
After five decades John’s enthusiasm for construction remains. Each project excites him with its unique challenges and he brings energy, creativity and meticulous attention to detail to every commission. His leadership ensures that clients not only achieve their vision but enjoy the journey of seeing it come to life.

FINANCIAL CONTROLLER, AGATA TOBIN.
Agata built a strong foundation in finance during her time at Barclays, going on to earn her Professional Certificate in Accounting and her qualification from the Association of Accounting Technicians.
Her exceptional organisational skills and financial acumen ensure our practice runs at its absolute best every day. Agata oversees a wide range of essential operations at Dyer Grimes Architecture, expertly fulfilling the roles of financial controller, bookkeeper, and office manager.
ASSOCIATE, JAKUB SKALIMOWSKI.
Architecture is more than a career for Jakub, it's also his passion, which has taken him from Poland, through the Netherlands to the UK, during his education and easily work years.
Since joining DGA in 2018, he's had the opportunity to work on a number of high-end residential projects, from new build houses to refurbishments. Being involved from the early concept stage, throughout the planning process, technical design and construction on site, has given him a wealth of experience.
Becoming an Associate in 2022, Jakub got a chance to lead a small design team at DGA, successfully completing several projects in Richmond, Kingston and Wimbledon in the following few years.
What Jakub enjoys most about working on private houses is the direct connection to the building's future user, and how this makes every project a very unique design challenge.
In his spare time, Jakub cultivates a great number of hobbies, from videography to adventure travelling to craft making, and he enjoys being outdoors and staying active.

Faced with an uphill planning battle to turn our near derelict house in a conservation area in Kingston upon Thames into a vibrant family home, we met with several architects. He worked closely with us to come up with a daring and innovative scheme and turned around the plans and surveys required very quickly and to exceptional quality.
