Contemporary Brass and Carrara Marble Kitchen by Blakes London
We recently visited our clients in Maida Terrace to see how they had settled in to their newly restored Victorian townhouse, while also taking the opportunity to photograph the now lived-in kitchen where, thankfully, the marble has survived two years of cooking and company.

Marble is clearly the defining material in this kitchen and everything else was designed around it. The rich metallic veining unique to Paonazzo Carrara marble is the perfect complement to the deep brass detailing on the cupboard and drawer handles.

Marble is used across the kitchen island, the counter tops and the splashback, the natural patterning acting as a visual counterpoint to the plain white kitchen units and reeded glass. Careful marble cutting has clad the island units with a perfectly symmetrical pattern.

The mesmerising pattern of this herringbone parquet floor could have easily distracted from the delicate natural texture of the marble but the use of a subtle brown timber makes sure that your eyes are drawn towards the most important details.

This tap is not as simple as its elegant appearance suggests. Hidden within the custom made brass body by Yardley Bespoke Metalwork is a Zip Water tap that provides instant hot, chilled and even sparkling water.
Our client’s commitment to the white and brass colour scheme is well represented by their cup!

Despite all the space that was added by the rear extension, hiding away clutter will always be a challenge. The stairs up to the ground floor offered the perfect opportunity for some stealthy storage, with precision cut cabinets that disappear behind flush, handle-less doors.
This project was a collaboration between the team at DGA and the artisan kitchen designers at Blakes London. To learn more about Blakes, click here to read their blog on what separates true bespoke kitchen designers from high street chains.
