Best of 2017: Four Planning Permissions We Won
Cambridge Park
It’s not easy to get planning permission to renovate a Building of Townscape Merit in a Conservation Area, but that’s exactly what we achieved for this prominent four-storey detached house in Twickenham.
The permission includes a complete interior renovation and a rear extension which will allow us to reconfigure the internal space and update its services to allow for a more flexibility and current style of living.
The star of this project is no doubt the full length lap pool in the garden, which will be a complex feat of engineering. To learn more about the work that goes into residential pools, click here to read a guest blog from pool consultant Paul Whiteley.
Oak Farm
With most of our work taking place in London, sometimes it’s nice to get a chance to breathe out in the country. Soon, we’ll be able to, thanks to recently winning permission to go ahead with a full master plan for this impressive country house that enjoys luxurious wooded grounds in Surrey.
Our plans reimagine the interior to make the most of potential of this stately house, with an open plan kitchen, dining room and snug, a music room, formal reception room, seven en suite bedrooms and a master suite with full size bathroom and dressing room.
Burford House
We’ve been granted permission to completely demolish an existing build with little architectural merit and replace it with a sustainable, contemporary two-storey build with five bedrooms.
The new house will provide 523sqm of floor space compared to 375sqm in the original. This generous space will allow for light-filled, open plan spaces and for all five bedrooms to have en-suites. Elsewhere on the site, the clients will also enjoy a separate garage with matching design to the main structure.
Belvedere Road
This unusual project in Wimbledon is not quite a new build and not quite a renovation. The current structure on this site is a half-built contemporary house that was abandoned in 2008 when the prior owners ran out of funds, leaving a basic structure that’s complete but lacking any finish.
But all that work won’t go to waste. We’ve worked with the new owners of the site to realise the hidden potential of this structure, reconfiguring the floor plans and entirely changing the façade to breathe new life into this long-forgotten house.
Planning permissions can be a prolonged and stressful battle, but at DGA we have a strong track record of planning success across many of London’s toughest boroughs, fiercely protected listed buildings and restricted rural sites such as the Green Belt and AONBs.
