Richmond renovation and extension Montague Road

Dyer Grimes Architecture are delighted to announce that we have received planning permission to renovate and extend a Building of Townscape Merit in the St. Matthias Conservation Area, Richmond.

The house in question is a detached Victorian family home which enjoys a very large rear garden. Our clients wish to renovate the house, convert the roof into a habitable space and extend the house in both the rear and the basement.

Despite the property’s protected status, Richmond upon Thames Borough Council approved of our plans following careful negotiations which demonstrated our skill in heritage architecture and our commitment to conservation.

Various minor ad-hoc rear extensions will be replaced with a single, more practical structure. Matching red brick and slim steel framed Crittal-style doors will ensure that the new rear extension will complement the Victorian fabric of the rest of the house while still reading as contemporary through its clean, sharp design.

Below the house, the small existing basement will be expanded throughout the entire footprint to provide a huge increase in floor space and value without modifying the appearance of the property from the street.

We look forward to sharing more details of this project as it progresses. If you need help with a planning application of your own, call us now on 020 3918 2678 or email [email protected]
