New Basement Beneath Victorian House on Chelsea’s Beautiful Carlyle Square
DGA have won a commission to provide complete internal remodelling and the construction of a full plan basement beneath a five bedroom Victorian semi-detached corner house on Carlyle Square.
Sitting just next to the King’s Road, Carlyle Square is one of Chelsea’s most beautiful and sought after locations in London, with grand Victorian townhouses and terraces wrapped around the stunning private garden at its heart.
Carlyle Square has been home to many notable residents since it was first built in the 1860s. The house we have been commissioned to work on was once the residence of intelligence officer Kim Philby, one of the notorious Cambridge Five double agents. Who knows what secrets we might discover in the walls!
Working on such a historic site is always a privilege, and we are confident that thanks to our portfolio of sympathetically restored Conservation Area homes and trusted reputation with Kensington and Chelsea’s planning authority that we will soon have more good news to share for this project.
